Sicilian Baroque

- Baroque architecture-specific variati on encountered in Sicily in the seventeenth and eighteenth centur ies. The style on the one hand has the characteristics of the Bar oque, such as satiation curves and ornaments, on the other hand s tands out against the background of contemporary European architecture using masks and smiling cherubs (puttĂłw) and the general dynamism unprecedented anywhere else. Until recently, little has been investigated, little recognized and rarely appreciated, even though studies conducted by Anthony s Blunt in the 60s Twentieth century
